Walid Genadry
Walid has over 30 years of leadership experience in various industries, functions, and countries in both the private and the public sectors in multi-cultural work environments where he often acted as a change agent.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from INSEAD, France, and a Master’s degree in Engineering from McGill University, Canada. He is also an accredited Executive Coach having gained an International Coach Federation approved Diploma in Executive and Professional Coaching from the University of Texas, Dallas, USA.
As an Executive Coach he works in both the public and private sectors with Board members, CEOs and other “C”- Level executives with clients including senior managers at Diageo, AXA, CAT group and United assurance and various ministries in KSA. He is fluent in English, Arabic and French and has been regularly sought after as a speaker at various regional and international conferences.
Walid has succeeded in several senior roles including as Head of the Insurance Supervisory Authority in Lebanon, which he built from inception and led for thirteen years, engaging in a major change management process through the introduction of regulatory oversight to a previously unregulated industry.
On the private sector side, Walid contributed successfully in the management of major organizational projects in the Telecom industry and in the FMCG industry through the turnaround for a subsidiary of one of the large FMCG companies in the Middle East. He also led successfully the digital transformation of a bank. He began his career as an engineer in flight simulation with CAE Enterprises in Canada, and later worked as a management consultant with PWC and United Group Consultants in France.
He held various leadership roles at the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), the international Insurance standard-setting organization where he was an Executive Committee member for several years. During his tenure he conceived and implemented the Supervisory Development Strategy for supervisors worldwide. He was honored as a Distinguished Fellow of the IAIS in recognition of his significant contributions. He is also the former Chairman and co-founder of the Arab Forum of Insurance Regulatory Commissions.
Walid is presently an active Board Director and member of Board Committees including Risk, Compliance and Digitalization. He currently chairs Risk and Compliance committees in the banking and insurance sectors in the Middle East.
